John Akii-Bua, non-Jean-Baptiste Okello - Aggrey Awori maintains Uganda record in 110 M-Hurdles

The literature generally attributed the national record of the Uganda in the 110-meter hurdle to Jean-Baptiste Okelo, the personal best of 14.48 seconds he created at the 1960 Rome Olympics.

Okello, 20, and Aggrey Awori, 21, represented Uganda in a difficult race in Rome. The first round, then the quarter-finals, then the semi-finals, and the finals were held on the same day on September 3, 1960. The preliminary round consisted of six games, Okello entered in the first game and Awori entered the sixth heat. There are five to seven players per heating, and the fastest four times per heating will qualify for the second round [quarter finals].
