5 difference between indoor and outdoor volleyball

There are only two types of volleyball - indoor volleyball and outdoor or beach volleyball. The two are not only different in position. They may share some similarities, such as using the pull point system in the score and the 2 points advantage required to announce the win, but the difference is far greater than the similarities.

Court size

Compared to outdoor volleyball, indoor volleyball actually has a bigger pitch. The standard course size for indoor volleyball is 18m x 19m, while the standard course for beach volleyball is 16m x 8m. The outdoor volleyball court has become smaller because it is more difficult to sprint through the sand than on the hard court of indoor volleyball.

Another difference besides size is that in indoor volleyball, parallel attack lines are drawn 3 meters from the centerline. The back row players must be careful to stay behind this line when hitting the ball. In contrast, outdoor volleyball does not have an attack line, players can hit the ball from it...
