Bowditch responded to the dispatcher's call to investigate the deer/car crash on Parker Point Road. He came to the middle of the road to find a damaged, red, rental car and deer blood, but no driver, no deer.
What happened to the driver and the deer? Who anonymously informed the authorities in an anonymous incident of Smitty's Garage two miles away?
The rental agreement found in the glove box indicates that the current driver is 23-year-old Ashley Kim from Cambridge, Massachusetts.
National cavalry Curt Hutchins arrived at the scene shortly after Bowditch. He assured him that he would continue to hunt down the gold because it was a matter for the state police. Bowditch is skeptical. Something is wrong, Bowditch knows.
Bowditch was forced to investigate his own disappearance of Ashley Kim. He needs the help of town staff MaryBeth Fickett and legendary retired warden Charley Stevens. Stevens met Bowditch in the process of finding his father.
Fickett found that Hans Westergaard had a summer house not far from the scene of the accident. Westergaard is also a professor from Cambridge, Massachusetts and Harvard Business School. The Kim / Westergaard connection is too close. Bowditch called Westergaard's wife, Jill, and learned that Kim was her husband's research assistant. She also told him that Hans had attended a meeting the day before and had never heard of it since then.
Bowditch and Stevens explored the spacious waterfront Westergaard home where they discovered the cruel Ashley Kim body. The killer carved the word SLUT on her body. Without the signs of Westgard, early suspicions focused on the romantic connection between the two.
Seven years ago, Earland Jefferts was an amiable, handsome, former lobster who was convicted of murdering 20-year-old Nikki Donatelli. The crime took place on a hot night in July after drinking and tempting at the Harpoon Bar. Interestingly, Bowditch learned that Donatelli's body was also engraved with the SLUT.
J-Team, led by Jeffert's aunt Lou Bates, is determined to win a new trial for him; he is convinced that the prosecution has done a lot of work in submitting evidence. They are close to Bowditch to join their mission. He initially refused. However, considering the similarities between the Kim / Donatelli murders, he found himself caught in the conviction of investigating Jeffert.
Danica Marshall is the assistant attorney general who helped sue Earland Jefferts. She is often referred to as the "court gender symbol" and "black widow", and she warns Bowditch not to investigate Ashley Kim's death and revisit the details of Jeffert's conviction.
Square Deal Diner is the town's gossip center. After entering, Bowditch has been the subject of conversation, both during his father's disappearance and Ashley Kim's murder.

When Bowditch made a deadly ATV chase on snow-covered snow to attract local Calvin Barter. Bowditch is sure that he is the property of Hank Varnum, whose culprit is the culprits of his ATV track: "I turned to a lower gear and refueled, with as much power as possible, hoping my wheels would not lose traction on the ice."
During college, Bowditch met his girlfriend Sarah who lived together. Although she is rich, she is still attracted to his life and loves outdoor activities. "She recognized some wildness under my neat appearance, like many good girls from the right family, she was awakened by the dangerous smell."
His search for dangerous affinity has had an impact on their relationship during the search for the father and the current murder investigation of Ashley Kim. Her tolerance for physical and emotional usability has reached its peak, especially in the case of her secret pregnancy.
