Ten rules for teenagers

Some of my favorite people these days are teenagers.

I am not an expert in teen or family interaction, but I know that children need rules. I wrote these ten for those fabulous teenagers who live in my world. They are not intended to be all-encompassing, but to touch the highlights of life at this moment. Even so, I think they are worth sharing.

Rule 1. Life is too short to hang out with people you don't like.

Rule 2. There is always a good way to do something tough. This doesn't mean it's easy for any participant, but you can look back and be happy with how you handle this situation.

Rule 3. If you want to do it, it is best to complete it as soon as possible. Shakespeare says it's better, but the problem is, if you want to break up with him/her, do it early, not wait.

Rule 4. Take care of yourself. You are our only you, we think you are special. Don't smoke, don't ride a car without a seat belt, don't drink and drive, don't drive with anyone who used to drink, don't think you are invincible or invisible.

Rule 5. Everything you put on the Internet doesn't really disappear. Facebook is part of the Internet. The same is true for MySpace, SMS and YouTube.

Rule 6. Your life is not electronic. This includes TV, social media, email, mobile, iPod and gaming systems. Being deprived of any of these at any time will not prevent major physical functions or kill your social life. There are scientific tests to provide this.

Rule 7. Even if she is not worth it, treat your mother from time to time.

Rule 8. This will also pass.

Rule 9. Commercial advertising, print advertising and video are not real. No one in real life spends 9 hours on hair and makeup, or has the advantage of a full-time spray gun. Try to be the best, but don't target unrealistic things. Your heart is more important than your haircut or clothes. Sooner or later your companions will understand this.

Rule 10. You are perfect. I love you.

What is your favorite rule for teenagers?
