Roger Vergin and Carol Bichon Jackson Shine at the West Sound Advanced Games

Two young heart athletes - Roger Wilkin and Carol Bixiong Jackson - not only participated in the competition, but also participated in the 2009 Western Sound Advanced Games held in Bremerton [Washington State].

Vergin [in the 70-74 age group] won the gold medal in the long jump, triple jump, high jump, 50m sprint, 100, 200 and 400. His 27-09 [27-foot-9-inch] triple jump is the best jump of all participants in all age groups, and his every event is controversial.

Carol Bixiong Jackson [60-64] won four gold medals for the discus, shot, 50, 100 and 200, and finished runner-up in 400 points.

Bob Heidi [65-69] was the only athlete on the day to fully fire all five games, winning gold in shots, discus, long jump, triple jump and high jump. His 4-07 high jump is the best result of the day. He also participated in all five games.

John Lax [50-54] won the gold medal for the top 8 medals in shot put, discus, high jump, 50, 100, 200, 800 and 1,500, but only 3 of his 8 victories...
