On Saturday, October 9, 1971, it coincided with Uganda's eighth Independence Day celebration, a political wave from the UK, and John Akii-Bua broke Uganda's national decathlon record. Akii-Bua is known for his gold medal in the 1972 Summer Olympics at the Genesis Record Time [47.82], but most people think his decathlon performance on Independence Day remains the national decathlon record. Akini's 6933 decathlon points also became Africa's decathlon record. The record was verified by the International Amateur Athletic Federation [IAAF].
The decathlon is a 10-day two-game match. These events include 100m and 400m sprint, long jump, shot put, high jump, 110m hurdle, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1500m km.
Larbi Bouraadaof Algeria established an African record [8332 points] in Ratingen in 2012. When he actively tested the banned person, he was deprived of this record.
