Wrestling is the oldest sport in the world. The evidence of wrestling can be traced back to the ancient Egyptian era. The first Olympic wrestling competition was recorded in 708 BC. The earliest forms of wrestling proved to be fierce competition between the two combatants. But most of the barbaric behavior was eliminated because the Romans introduced a less violent version of the sport. In countries such as England, France and Japan, wrestling is still popular throughout the Middle Ages.
