It was the time of the year, and the night started to get a bit cold, a bit dark, and definitely longer.
Many Lake District huts are in picturesque locations, and you may notice a lack of street lighting! I always put a helmet in my bag to walk home from the bar in the dark or stroll along the lake.
This requirement is to stroll around some of the wonderful gear shops in the Lake District to see what they offer for the fall and winter. Maybe a comfortable soft wool or a warm down jacket? Still a super new torch or an exciting GPS gadget?
Ambleside has a number of independent equipment stores; this is my best choice:

They are advised to adopt an unbiased footwear approach. They are particularly good at providing accessories for crampons and have a wide range of climbing.
Gaynors

Gaynors is a huge choice, great for families, distributed on multiple floors, and the choice is incredible. A veritable Aladdin cave outdoor gear.
Adventure peak

Some hiking and mountaineering resort operators have excellent climbing walls. There is also a special children's store near them.
Mountain factor

Stockers in Paramo and Patagonia. Keep an eye on their sample sales, and if you don't pick the color, you can get a fantastic bargain.
Cunningham ' S

Paramo, Jack Wolfskin and camping accessories. There are also good boots upstairs.
Climber shop

The staff here is almost an expert in every outdoor discipline. Whether you are a climber, a walker or a runner, you can rely on them to give unbiased advice to big brands such as Rab, Mammut and Marmot.

These guys are the authority of swimming in the wild. They organize diving suits ' tri-on' once you complete the purchase, you can tell the best place to go.
If you want to look around the store in one of the many cottages in the Lake District, make sure Ambleside is on your list.
