At the age of 16, every child who leaves school gets an achievement record folder. The National Achievement Record or NRA is recognized throughout the UK as evidence of the achievements of the holder in school.

The NRA can be taken to a job interview, college, apprentice or any route you plan to leave the school. It shows others how you spend your time in education and the positive things you offer. NRA is also a useful way to see what you have achieved so far in black and white and think about what to do next.

What is the achievement record file?

NRAs are usually presented in the Burgundy folder, but your school may choose different types of folders for their students. Many standard papers should be placed in the folder, including:

• Your name, address and personal information
• Summary of your educational achievements
• Personal statement

You can also include any other records that may be useful when applying for a job, apprenticeship or university degree, such as:

• Credits and qualifications
• Work history
• work experience
• Award
• Attendance records

In addition, the NRA will include a certificate to demonstrate that your school has properly monitored and organized the achievement process.

How to do?

You should prepare your achievement record file for 11 years, because work and college interviews can happen very quickly. In most cases, if you plan to go to college, the interview will start around Christmas, so your NRA needs to be prepared.

Keep track of anything you think might be relevant to what you want to do. For example, if you want to learn English, take a copy of your most impressive paper. If you plan to find an apprentice in the construction industry, take a photo of what you have learned or any photo you can make at school that can support your application.

However, customizing your NRA is also important, so it is a great fit. In other words, be selective when you show different things to different people. For example, if you are planning an actual apprenticeship, your interviewer will want to know your GCSE scores and see evidence of your actual achievement, and they don't want to read your thesis about Richard III.

In the 10th and 11th years, you are entitled to a lot of help from the NRA. Your personal tutor should meet with you at least three times to view your folders and help you organize them. In addition, you will be assisted in writing a personal statement and have the opportunity to prove what you can do and obtain a certificate of conformity to prove your accomplishments.
