Everyone knows what an insurance agency website is, but more sophisticated insurance agency online marketing terms such as microsites, minisites, landing pages and extruded pages can be a mystery to many agents and brokers. What is the difference between these, why are they an important aspect of your insurance agent marketing?
Let's start with each brief definition:
- miniature: A microsite, also known as a landing page, a small website or a portal, is an Internet web design term commonly referred to as a personal web page. Examples of this may be dedicated to auto insurance, homeowner insurance, apartment insurance or errors and omissions.
- miniature: Miniature is a small, focused website focused on a specific topic. Most minisites contain only a few pages, but in reality they can have only one page or up to 20. They are usually a subset of larger sites. For example, an XYZ insurance agent website may have 30 pages of content and has two divisions, one of which is assigned to the transportation company insurance [ship insurance leader] and the other to the welfare and compliance [group welfare leadership].
- login page: A login page is a single web page that is presented when a user clicks on a search result, an online advertisement, a social media link, or the like. The landing page is usually dominant or sales oriented, showing content directly related to the ad, search results or social media links. An example of a landing page could be Florida Yacht Insurance or Engineer Professional Liability Insurance.
- Squeeze the page: Squeeze pages are landing pages created and designed to capture potential customers, add subscriptions [such as newsletters] or register events [webinars/seminars]. Examples of squeeze pages include: regional exclusive insurance lead generation webinars, or PPACA compliance newsletter subscriptions.
- Weblet: Weblets, a term attributed to the origins of NASA, are similar to mini or microsites, although there are some key differences. It is usually maintained by one person. It usually provides downloadable content. Weblets are often created to help non-technical people help publish professional-looking web content without having to know anything about programming.
All of these terms apply to insurance agent websites and insurance agent network marketing. They are specific tools for increasing traffic, generating inbound threads, and increasing subscription and/or event attendance. They are also used to convey subject matter expertise and credibility. If you are an agent or broker looking to expand your scope and drive more qualified entry leads, microsites, minisites, landing pages and extruded pages should be part of your vocabulary.
